Dungeon Residential Camps, Somewhere, Thursday

On the third day (or the fourth, depending on where you were currently huddled), the Toymaker cracked his knuckles and got to work: hallways shifted again, and groups that had been able to interact were cut off again. Gravity grew heavier to make it harder to walk, to run, to find the energy to move around.

The maze shifted again, and those trapped inside would have to see what new surprises awaited them today. The Toymaker wasn't done playing with them, even as their numbers began to dwindle. No, not at all.

AZAR, KENNEDY.

"You would do that for me?" Raven said, touched. "Thank you. I am not certain how often I must drink to keep the hunger at bay. I have so much to learn, though I am praying this will be undone somehow." Either by whatever was keeping them prisoner being defeated, or by her own demon self triumphing over the invader.

"Never tell her I said this," Kennedy said firmly, "but as long as we've got Buffy around, this group is in pretty good Slayer-y hands. Besides, if anything has to--"

She winced; this brought back some fairly sensitive memories.

"If someone has to stop you somehow, I'd..." She bit her lip and looked down. "Guess I'd feel better knowing it's someone who cares about you, you know?"

"I think I would be more comfortable well," Raven said softly. It seemed such an intimate act when the violence was removed.

"Jono let me drink from him two days ago. I was able to stop myself, much as I had feared losing control and being unable to stop. But he had the ability to stop me as well, and I would feel better if that were the case with another." Just in case.

Jack nodded, agreeing. "I don't think I've ever felt so helpless before," he said. "Even when the world was disappearing we knew what was happening. This -- there's no explanation."

"I was hoping you were safe on the island," Jack told her. "Knowing there's more than one camp -- we might all be down here."

"I'm stick on being annoyed," Kitty said. "Someone wants to watch us twist, I get it, but that's no reason to not tell us anything. Unspoken etiquette is still etiquette."

And this was why she'd never really not be an X-Man.

"That's what I'm afraid of. That there's nobody to break us out, we're going to have to do it on our own." So far, despite all the poking about Allie had done, that hadn't worked out so well.

Jack laughed, "There's an unspoken etiquette to kidnappings?"

It sounded much stranger if you'd never been an X-man.

Dinah had managed to get her eskrima from the weapons room, at the cost of bloody knees and a bruised jaw. Right now, she was just wondering why she was so tired. The hell was up with that?

"Yes! We've been here four days and there are no clues, no gloating, no demands, no nothing," Kitty said, actually a little offended at whoever was in charge here. "We don't even know who has us. It's like this bad guy has no common decency."

After returning from a bar she'd come across on the other side of the dungeon, Sam emptied her knapsack out on the floor. "I've got food and I've got weapons," she called. "They're up for grabs for anyone who needs any."

Today Jaina had met up with her brother, gotten a weapon, gotten traumatized, and gotten a gremlin bite.

Now she thought she was Oprah.

So if you were in the camp and heard her yelling things like "Look under your seats! Everyone look under your seats!" that was why.

Dinah had a makeshift torch that she hadn't lit yet, eskrima sticks, a bag, hey, she was ready to go.

She was still wearing pink leggings and a ridiculously gigantic pregnancy T-shirt with LOVE YOUR BUMP! and silk-screened hand prints on it. Shut up. She was still badass.

"Hey. Anything new?" Dinah smiled a little, and leaned against the wall. Was she going to have to crawl down the corridor on the way back?

Not particularly.

"Sure," Cade said. "Just feeling a little heavy today."

Well, it wouldn't be that kind of... never mind.

"You know I've got your back," Kennedy said quietly. "Just try and make sure I don't have to, y'know, stab you in it for the sake of good?"

That possibility was more of a drag than the gravity.

"New and exciting varieties of noise out in the shadows? Plus my growing resentment that I haven't had this much trouble carrying around a crossbow since I was ten," offered Kennedy, sparing a moment to chuckle at Dinah's outfit. "Slayer hearing is not doing me any favors right now... nice look you have there."

"Shush. I am the scariest babymama in this dungeon," Dinah told her. She sobered a little, and said, "I think we're missing more people than Pinkie Pie. We should've done a head-count the first night."

Also checked for pulses on people coming back in. Not that Dinah knew that.

Mad due was about to ask if that was a metaphor when she realized she knew what he meant. "Huh," she said. "Did something happen and I missed it?"

"You are kind of terrifying, I'll give you that," Kennedy said with a tired laugh that faded at 'missing more people.'

"Can't save 'em all, can you?" she remembered the First asking in Eve's voice, back in Sunnydale. She winced.

"Yeah, that was stupid of us," she admitted. "On the other hand, I think we picked up a few new ones, so... there's that?"

"Yeah. Raven, a couple others." Dinah rubbed her head, fighting the low-grade headache all the new weight or gravity was hitting her with. Jeez, this kept up too long, she'd start to feel pregnant. "At least there's a chance some of the missing people are in that other camp... you up for an expedition later?"

"Possibly." Oh, crap, Raven. "You know there's a chance we lost a few people to vamps, right? And not necessarily in the last-night's-dinner way. It sort of doesn't help that they probably don't need an invite for a setup like our four-star cave."

"Probably," Cade said. "I don't know your life."

Waking up via annoying dead relatives brought out the best in him, clearly.

"It's too early for attitude," Maddie said with a sigh and no idea what time it actually was.

"Yeah. Raven told me... well. And Karla had a run-in with some, but got away. Stupid damn vampire-verse." Your home dimension sucks, Kennedy. ~~Had to say it.~~ "I don't know what we can do about that. Ask people to touch a cross as they come back in?" She shrugged helplessly. "Some people were vampires before this started, like that Erik guy."

"It's never too early for attitude," Cade said, staring at the deeply fascinating ceiling.
