Dungeon Residential Camps, Somewhere, Saturday

And then the pathways slammed shut.

Oh, not all of them. Most of them simply rearranged themselves. But whatever had connected each camp to another had been violently stripped away. They were alone now, and they were easy prey. At least the winds had settled down...

The maze had grown more erratic, however. Instead of speeding up time for all, it was now slowing it down at random in different places. Anyone caught in a sudden bubble of it would find themselves slowing down compared to the rest of the world. Awkward.

Was it rude to interrupt someone while she was trying to clean a wound? Probably, but in this case it was a helpful interruption. Alec thought that might be okay.

"Excuse me?" Alec offered from where he was sitting against a wall a few feet away. "I think you might be, um, missing the cut a little." He indicated the spot in question on his own forehead. "It's a little lower."

Jaina moved the wipe a little lower and looked at him questioningly. "There?"

"Yeah." Alec nodded. "That's better. Are you okay?"

Because first you corrected a person's wound-cleaning, and then you asked them if they were okay. It was a thing.

"Fine," she assured him, wincing a little at the antiseptic. "It's superficial. I'm sure it looks a lot worse than it is."

Most injuries did, where Jedi or other badasses were involved.

"What happened?" Alec wondered. "Was it a room thing?" It would be good to know if there were other creepy things going on, right?

Jaina nodded, then realized she probably shouldn't do that because now she had to rub a drop of antiseptic from rolling into her eye. "There was some underwater room with these deformed... people things," she said. "It got violent. At least the haul was pretty decent."

"This dungeon seems to be working with an extreme interpretation of 'no pain, no gain,'" Alec said. "Did you see the one with the masked... people and all the weapons?" If there was an actual name for what they were, he didn't know it. "Not much fun."

"This one did have masks and weapons," she said thoughtfully, putting the wipe back in the wrapper when she was done with it. The sad thing was she knew she might have to reuse the clean part on this one because it was her and injuries were a thing. "It wouldn't shock me if there are others like that, though. The zombies weren't a favorite, either."

"I haven't seen those either," Alec admitted. "I just wish -- there were some kind of handheld radio things we could all have here. So if someone found a room with a certain kind of enemy, the person could say so and whoever was equipped to deal with it could go find them."

Because he was confident that he could handle zombies.

"Most of the people here can take care of themselves in these situations. And if they're in trouble, it might be too late for someone to get through the maze and find them in time," Jaina pointed out. "Especially when half of us are carrying makeshift weapons that don't work on everything."

"That's true." Alec was personally running low on arrows that weren't covered in something gross of some sort. "Well, I don't know. At least people should be going out in groups with diverse strengths and weaknesses. Something."

His Type-A fighty instincts were not doing so well here.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to ramble at you."
