Dungeon Residential Camps, Somewhere, Saturday

And then the pathways slammed shut.

Oh, not all of them. Most of them simply rearranged themselves. But whatever had connected each camp to another had been violently stripped away. They were alone now, and they were easy prey. At least the winds had settled down...

The maze had grown more erratic, however. Instead of speeding up time for all, it was now slowing it down at random in different places. Anyone caught in a sudden bubble of it would find themselves slowing down compared to the rest of the world. Awkward.

Seeing that as a great opportunity to lie about the bite on her neck before Victor could see it and become suspicious, April said, "Yeah, I found a room the other day where, like, a doberman or something bit me."

It was the first thing that she could think of that could have bitten her without suggesting that she was either a.) evil and dangerous now or b.) actually kind of competent to have survived. Any idiot off the street could get bitten by a doberman.

"Wanna go that way?" she asked, pointing at random.

"Sure." Victor started walking that way, craned his neck to spot her wound. "Must have been a pretty big doberman," he said. "Did it claw you too?"

"Yeah, a little," April said, because why not? "And it had a weird spiky tail. Like a mace. It's weird what these rooms cough up."

Or she just liked lying.

"Hellhound," Victor guessed, then rubbed at his forehead. "Do you think there's any chance we all died in our sleep back on Fandom, and this is literally hell?"

"No."

Sorry, Victor.

"It's fucking freezing, so."

Said the girl who didn't really feel things like temperature anymore.
ultron_junior: ([neg] little bit bitter)

"It could be freezing in Hell," Victor said -- less because he was totally confident about that than because he wanted to argue. "I mean, most of what we believe about it is crap the church made up in the middle ages, right?"

"Yeah," April granted. Was she supposed to be intimidated by religion now that she was a vampire or something? She didn't feel intimidated. Maybe movies lied. "I don't know. How would we even test that?"

"I guess we can't," Victor admitted. "Until somebody comes out to tell us why they have us here, it's all just guessing."

"Or," April countered, eyeing Victor curiously, "we could always see if people can die here. You can't die in Hell, right?"

Oh, dear. That wasn't good.
ultron_junior: ([neu] i am listening to you)

"No, but maybe you could look like you're dying," Victor countered. "Maybe all the deaths are like one big illusion."

Or maybe Victor watched too much TV.

"It's a pretty good illusion," April remarked. "Felt pretty real when I did it."

In case that wasn't appropriately creepy, April took this opportunity to morph into gameface.

With the slight lisp of a vampire who wasn't used to talking around the fangs yet, she asked, "Want to see for yourself?"
ultron_junior: ([neg] maybe a little evil)

"Vampiro!" Victor stumbled backward, raised his hands in warning. "You don't want to eat me," he said. "My blood tastes like motor oil."

[identity profile] hatesmoststuff.livejournal.com 2013-04-14 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
"Maybe I like the taste of motor oil," April shared, advancing on him. "This girl I ate the other day tasted like highlighters." Probably not. "I'm up for a palate-cleanser."
ultron_junior: ([zap] and now we electronate things!)

[personal profile] ultron_junior 2013-04-14 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
"Don't think so," Victor said, shaking his head. "Oil's bad for you, and nobody needs this much iron in their diet."

Not his best line, but he'd been operating on little food or sleep all week. He brought his hands up to zap her, praying his powers would work normally this one time.

Re: Camp Two - Corridors Out of Camp Two

[identity profile] hatesmoststuff.livejournal.com 2013-04-14 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
It was a better line than what April followed it up with, at any rate.

"I used to be anemic," she said, getting out of range of any zapping that might occur by bolting quickly to the side. Her powers hadn't seemed to be giving her too much trouble yet, but then, she'd been pretty fast even before being turned, so maybe she just couldn't tell. "Or I still am. However that works."

For good measure, she threw a kick his way. She hadn't needed to use too much violence yet, since Annie hadn't exactly been a difficult target, but it couldn't hurt to see how strong she was.

Answer: more than before, but probably not robot-strong. That was something?
ultron_junior: ([neg] getting pissed off)

The kick clanged off Victor's hip, interfering with his balance but not causing pain. He hesitated for just an instant before throwing his elbow toward her collarbone, joints and fingertips still sparking with electricity.

"Not really an expert in vampire medical stuff," he said. "Why are you here, anyhow? Don't you have a cemetery to lurk in?"

Re: Camp Two - Corridors Out of Camp Two

[identity profile] hatesmoststuff.livejournal.com 2013-04-14 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
April whipped her neck to the side mostly in time, taking only some of the hit. It hurt a little, but not enough to stop her for too long.

"Cemeteries don't serve Happy Meals," said April, who had clearly never seen an episode of Wendy the Werewolf Stalker. "Camps full of freaked-out people do."

She aimed a punch at him, this one toward Victor's chest and meant to knock the wind out of him, then lunged forward while she had the chance.
ultron_junior: ([neg] this is my life?)

[personal profile] ultron_junior 2013-04-14 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
The punch missed as Victor jumped backward. He couldn't fly, but apparently if he were freaked out enough in a place with wonky powers he could hover pretty darn fast and far.

So April missed him. Unfortunately, he landed directly in the path of a Grue ... which did not.

So Victor ended up being something's dinner tonight after all. It just wasn't April's.
