Dungeon Residential Camps, Somewhere, Saturday

And then the pathways slammed shut.

Oh, not all of them. Most of them simply rearranged themselves. But whatever had connected each camp to another had been violently stripped away. They were alone now, and they were easy prey. At least the winds had settled down...

The maze had grown more erratic, however. Instead of speeding up time for all, it was now slowing it down at random in different places. Anyone caught in a sudden bubble of it would find themselves slowing down compared to the rest of the world. Awkward.

Cassidy worried at her bottom lip. She knew what that usually meant, but she needed to verify what she was thinking before she could decide what to do.

"Feed. You need blood, then?"

Raven nodded, refusing to meet Cassidy's eyes. The vampire was hungry, and so was the demon, for the emotions it craved. It would be so easy to find someone and attack and drink of both, blood and fear.

"Yes," she said softly. "Blood and...emotion."

There were few vampires that Cassidy knew, but what she did know was that Raven was her friend. She was in Karla's Court, but she was a friend who needed help. She couldn't help with the meager Craft she had right now, but there were other ways she could assist Raven.

"Will it hurt a lot," she asked before she could change her mind. "When you feed from me, I mean?"

Somewhere, there were witches and males wanting to bang their head into things without knowing why.

"Cassidy, I cannot," Raven protested. Kennedy and Jono were one thing -- they could stop her if she went too far. But Cassidy was so young and innocent. And Karla already hated her enough right now. If she hurt a fellow Queen....

"You need to feed, Raven, you said so yourself." Cassidy said, extending her wrist. "It's better if you take from someone that is willing to help and not lose control and hurt someone else. I know what that would do to you."

She'd seen Raven hurting often enough over other things, after all. She squared her shoulders and gave Raven the best Queen Look(tm) that she could muster.

"Freely offered, freely taken."

Oh yes, she was invoking Protocol.

Dammit, Cassidy, that wasn't fair. Neither was showing Raven her wrist, blue veins pulsing with blood beneath her fair skin.

"Do something first," Raven said. "Go to the fireplace. Find a piece of wood with a sharp end. And you must hold it against my chest. And if I do not stop, you must stab it into my heart. Promise me that."

Cassidy had been around long enough to know that she needed to use anything she could to her advantage if she was going to help anyone. This was not a time for playing fair.

Her eyes widened as she realized what Raven was telling her. "You want me to promise to kill you if something goes wrong?!"

Raven, that was so not fair!

"I have no intention to go that far," Raven said, "but it would be foolish to not take precautions. Either you must do that or find someone to be with us in case something goes wrong."

She didn't want to put Cassidy in that position. She was hoping to scare her off with her request.

"I'll take the precaution, but I know you won't let it get out of control," Cassidy said quietly. "I'm going to make sure you're taken care of, Raven."

Raven would one day learn that Cassidy didn't scare easily -- especially when it was a friend that needed help.

Raven nodded. "All right," she said.

She wouldn't let herself hurt Cassidy. She couldn't.

Cassidy went to the fire place and found the sharpest stick she could find that didn't seem too thin. She knew that if she got one that looked like it was harmless -- like she might have done -- would mean that Raven wouldn't accept her help. She pushed past her distaste at finding something that could hurt her friend and then returned to her side.

Raven mentally prepared herself while Cassidy was looking. She had to feed but she could control it. She wasn't a monster. She was still Raven.

"Hold it against my heart," she said to Cassidy when she'd returned. She gave her what she hoped was a reassuring smile. "I do not intend for you to use it. But I cannot risk you being unprepared."

Cassidy nodded, doing at Raven said. "I'm not worried, Raven. I know you and know you won't lose control with me."

Raven waited for Cassidy to have the makeshift stake in place before she took her other arm in her hands. "I apologize for the discomfort," she said, before letting her face shift and her fangs appear.

She sank them into Cassidy's wrist with a hungry sigh and began to drink. Her blood tasted very different from Jono's, but it was still delicious. And so were the emotions she was tasting in it.

Cassidy was a very emotional person -- both as a person and as a Queen -- so there were a great deal of emotions that would probably help Raven.

She winced a bit when Raven first bit her, but she didn't pull away from her friend. She had been prepared for some pain when she had offered to help in the first place.

"It will be well," she murmured softly.

Re: Camp Two - Alcoves

[personal profile] trigons_child 2013-04-14 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
Part of her was straining to just grab Cassidy and bite from her neck, where the blood would flow even faster, and to drain her dry, all the while pulling every hope and dream, every fear and pain, from her mind. She wanted to drain her dry and leave nothing but a lifeless husk behind. Her emotions were especially so sweet. She wanted more, so much more.

She fought the hunger. She couldn't take as much blood from Cassidy as she had from Jono, so she'd need to feed again soon. But it was enough to take the edge off. She pulled her fangs from Cassidy's wrist and pushed herself away, panting from the effort.

[identity profile] nothornlessrose.livejournal.com 2013-04-14 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
Cassidy was a little woozy, but she figured she would be okay. She didn't know how much was enough to help her friend, so when Raven stopped, she assumed that she was full. She had no idea just how hard it was for her not to keep taking from her.

She let her head rest against the wall as she looked at Raven.

"Will you be okay for a little while, now?"

Raven wiped what she hoped was all of the blood from her mouth before she could look at Cassidy. "Yes," she said. "Thank you. It will help me a great deal. But I dared not take any more."

She was still bleeding, and the smell of her blood was too enticing. "Let me heal that for you," she said. "Please."

Cassidy looked down at her wrist and then nodded. "If it will not put too much strain on you to do so."

"It should not," Raven said.

She drew closer to Cassidy and took her wrist again -- do not bite do not bite do not bite she had to tell herself. Drawing her friend's injury into herself, she sucked in her breath when the pain hit her own wrist. She didn't want to admit how good it felt.

Cassidy noticed the reaction and gave her a concerned look. "Are you going to be all right? I don't want you hurting because of me."
trigons_child: (Looking at you)

"I will be fine," Raven said. "I just hope that we are able to determine what has trapped us here, and get home."

And hopefully reverse what had happened.
