Dungeon Residential Camps, Somewhere, Saturday

And then the pathways slammed shut.

Oh, not all of them. Most of them simply rearranged themselves. But whatever had connected each camp to another had been violently stripped away. They were alone now, and they were easy prey. At least the winds had settled down...

The maze had grown more erratic, however. Instead of speeding up time for all, it was now slowing it down at random in different places. Anyone caught in a sudden bubble of it would find themselves slowing down compared to the rest of the world. Awkward.

"I won't have to," Dinah promised. Later, she could cry about this. Not now, though. "It's still sticking up. But. I can get the top part of the jacket off. Rip the bottom part around it." She squeezed his hand, hard. "And when we get out of here--" And they would, damnit, they had to, "We'll give you all the good drugs and a really soft couch and I'll wear a stupid little nurse's hat, I swear."

"I may hold you to that," Priestly said, managing a weak smile. "Hey, maybe we'll luck out and we'll all magically reset and be totally fine."

"Wouldn't that be great?" Dinah smiled back, watching his face. When he had a little color back, she said, "Ready for me to get the jacket off?" The shoulder being ripped out, and the arm, made this part simpler, she hoped.

Not even remotely. "Yeah. Let's get this over with." So he could hide in an alcove and freak out.

Yeah, Dinah wouldn't be letting him get far without her. She moved over behind him, talking as she took the jacket off, voice low. "The top's torn out, I'm going to leave some of the lining there... plus maybe it's silk, I remember something about how that's good, it keeps knives and arrows from going in too far, and it's probably absorbing some of the blood..." Just a steady patter as she lifted the top layer of coat off the arrow, then set her teeth and ripped around the arrow with the fork, shredding the silk-nylon-whatever-it-was into a ragged circle around the shaft. Sloooooowly pulling the remains of the jacket down and off his shoulder. "There." She closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and said, "I'm gonna pack these socks around it, so it doesn't move. Okay?" After she wiped off the blood that had dripped down his back. God.

Priestly nodded, not really trusting himself to talk, anymore. The adrenaline of it all was well and truly gone, and now he was mostly just exhausted and feeling slightly sick.

Later, he'd find someone to give her a proper bear hug for him, since his arm was out of commission for at least a little while.

As gently as she could, Dinah wiped off the blood, hissing through her teeth when the wound bled a little, but choking back another 'sorry' as inadequate. One sock, two, tied tight around what was left of the shaft, padding it so it wouldn't get knocked around easily, and soak up any new blood.

"Done. Really done." Dinah felt like falling down right there, but she crawled around to check on Priestly, pulling another too-big and ridiculous blue shirt with her. "I want to put your arm in this, tie the sleeves around your neck. To try to keep your shoulder from moving, okay?"

Priestly nodded. "Okay. Then come over here and sit down so I can hug you, okay?" He was pretty sure she looked worse than he probably did. (It wasn't true, what with the arrow and all, but he liked to think it was.)

That giggle was almost a sob. Dinah nodded hard, and carefully manipulated his arm into the sling, blinking. Tying it. And.. nothing more to do. No tears. It was just tiredness. That was all. Just... getting her defenses down. She reached up to smooth Priestly's hair, and pat one ear gently, then slumped, her forehead against his. "So I guess this is payback for jumping off an overpass, hunh."

"You didn't even have the excuse of trying to get food and supplies," Priestly pointed out. He reached up with his good arm to rub the back of her neck. "Also, climbing tall buildings, fighting bad guys on top of trains, getting kidnapped by supervillains. . . ."

"I am really, really sorry for all that at this moment. Not that I enjoyed parts of that." Well, the kidnapping, anyway. Dinah let out a shaky breath against Priestly's face. He had to be ten times as tired as she was, and he was trying to make her feel better? "C'mon. Let's find a place for you to sack out."

It was what he did.

"Right. Moving." Others would need the fire. He had a Dinah -- and two medieval blankets -- to keep him warm.
