Dungeon Residential Camps, Somewhere, Wednesday, Day One of Two

The first day had been eminently entertaining - but the Toymaker was already growing bored. He reached in and tweaked the strings of his tiny universe, adding subtle changes: speeding up time, moving hallways. One of the two might be more noticeable than the other, but he looked forward to seeing if Fandom's finest felt the time discrepancy.

He split this day in two. Bound the pathways of the first and second camps together. And sat back.

The maze changed. That was what it was built to do. Its denizens would just have to find ways to cope with it.

"Did you get much rest last night?" Yeah, she caught that trembling. "Maybe we can find some chalk. Or put down flags with some of the bags, or extra shoes, or something." Dinah's voice softened. "You up for going out?" Checking! Just checking!

"Not a wink," Jono sighed. "But then, I'm shite at sleeping when I'm not trapped in a dungeon watching people I care about run off and get hurt like idiots. I... did find some stickers as well. Disney ones. We could always mark our way with glow-in-the-dark adhesive Donald Ducks."

Best plan? He'd kind of grabbed them on impulse, since they'd been in the DATED DEATH bag.

Dinah was tired enough to find that way too funny, and it took her a minute to stop giggling. With a last 'hee', she got herself under control. "Plan. Sounds good." She debated for a minute, then asked, "Would you sleep better, if I hung out here and kind of took watch for a couple hours? And I think there's a cookie left in the food pile, too." Induced sugar crash! Best way to get sleepy!

"Probably not," Jono admitted, giving her an apologetic sort of smile. "I'd try, but... nightmares."

Jono had serious nightmare issues. Ones that he didn't fess up to terribly often. But warning more people about them than just Karla probably couldn't hurt, lest he cause a panic by waking up, screaming.

"Okay. If you're sure.," Dinah stressed. Pushing her friends to do things never worked out well, even when she was worried about them. It would only get worse here if someone got bossy. "The offer stands." She rubbed her head. "Meanwhile. Maybe we should find stuff to make a map, too?" Maybe that would keep Jono occupied at some point, and distracted.

Jonothon considered that proposal momentarily, and then he nodded.

"I don't know how long the maps will stay relevant. The corridors did change up last night. But if people on their first go through the maze in the mornings document where the dangers are and pass it on, by the end of the day, presumably, we should have slightly fewer casualties."

Or, at least, that was the hope.

"Ugh. So even if we found a way out..." It might not be there, the second time. "Damnit. And none of us with cell-phones or working telepathy. I'll look for radios too, I guess. Though who knows if they'll work." She was quiet a moment, then said, "We should warn people about the corridors. But we don't want a panic, so..." How to pull that off.

"We stay calm as we tell them," Jono replied, shrugging his shoulders. "Better people be frightened and aware than ignorant and then dead."

It... seemed simple enough to him, at least. But then, he was running on a slice of orange and half a banana, and no sleep in days.

"True." Dinah reached out to poke at him a little. "Meantime. Rest. If you can't sleep, at least do that, mmkay?"

"I'll try," Jono sighed, nodding. "Probably a good idea. At least sit down for a while. I've been on my feet all bloody day."

It was showing.

Dinah patted his arm. "Let's get me some of those maternity clothes, too. That should be good for a laugh."

"Better you than me, luv," Jono replied, giving her a small smile. "I have the sneaking suspicion that no matter how much belly they let out of those shirts, it'd still be a touch tight around th'shoulders."

Not a shock.
