Dungeon Residential Camps, Somewhere, Friday

A strong wind tore through the hallways. Inside the camps, it was only audible: no breeze flicked into the large chambers themselves. Outside them, though, torches would flicker on and off on their own whim, exposing the dungeon's residents to errant grues.

There was something to be celebrated, though: when the maze shifted overnight, its paths crossed and connected all three camps. Time for a reunion.

Between some of the torches there are little alcoves, just wide enough to fit a single human being lying down.

After getting stuck in the memory room for what felt like hours yesterday, Kaidan... wasn't in a terribly great frame of mind. He could push through and head out and find some stuff, and he would.

But right now... right now he'd curled up in one of the alcoves, staring silently at the wall. Thinking.

Jessica was taking it easy for a while. She'd been out exploring, day after day after day, and all she had to show for it were an argyle sweater vest, bounty hunter pants, a blaster (and she didn't even use blasters), and a view of a vampire-killed Peter Parker.

So excuse her if she was quiet and sulked a little bit about how none of this was turning out right. Shouldn't this have been over already, anyway?

"You seem about as happy as I am," Gert observed, taking a seat near Jessica. "Any chance some really stale Fritos would help?"

They were not helping her mood, so she didn't expect miracles.

"Can they get us back to Fandom right now?" Jessica asked. "Because if not, I think I'll pass. No offense."

"None taken," Gert assured her. "They'd be a pretty crappy teleportation method if eating them did get people back to Fandom, though. Like how many people are going to want this bag of chips that, judging by the label, was clearly made in the seventies or eighties?"

"When you said 'stale,' I didn't think you meant 'a lot older than us,'" Jessica said. Okay, technically, she was two. But shut up. She was talking about her assumed age. "But depending on how hungry people are, I could see them going for it."

Okay, maybe Gert was exaggerating and they weren't quite that old. Definitely older than Jessica, though. Because most things were.

"...That's kind of gross," Gert concluded, eyeing the bag with new suspicion. "And actually, so is the idea of teleportation food and whatever biological processes would go along with that. Sorry for this conversation."

"I'm sure the Asgardians have something or other like that already," Jessica said. "But that's magic. I don't think biological processes get mixed up with magic food very often. At least, I hope not," Jessica said.

"Remind me not to ask Loki about that," Gert said. "Just in case."

Because he'd just troll to make it extra-gross, probably.

"Apart from this increasingly gross discussion, how are you doing?"

"Well, I'm wearing neon bowling shoes, an argyle sweatervest, and somebody else's pants. And all that is the bright side of the past few days," Jessica said. "So I guess the answer is, 'could be worse.' Oh, I also still have my sense of humor, which helps. How about you? Holding up okay?"

"I found dinosaurs today and that didn't suck," Gert shrugged. "It's weird that that's comforting."

It really, really was.

"Guess I've gotta go with the 'could be worse' angle, too."

"Well, we live weird lives," Jessica said. "So it's natural that's where the comforting stuff is."

"Of course, that's also why we get into stuff like this. You take the good, you take the bad."

That was pretty wise advice, Jess. "Well, someone's been trapped in an evil dungeon with fifty of her peers before," Gert joked.

Kitty absolutely refused to do this in front of Stiles, but every once in a while she'd find herself starting to choke up and she didn't want to do that. So she found one of the alcoves, figuring it was the closest she was going to get to privacy and let herself cry, trying to be as quiet as possible about it.

Honestly, she thought this might be a little less hard if she hadn't just gone through something like this yesterday.

After suddenly winding up alone in the room of painful memories yesterday, Allie had been sticking close to the camp today for reasons.

Since she was half keeping an eye on people's comings and goings, she knew something had happened. She waited until Kitty had gone off on her own before approaching.

"What's wrong?"

"Uh." Kitty wiped at her eyes because of some need to pretend like she hadn't been crying, even though the eye-wiping was pretty much a dead giveaway there. "Derek's dead," she said, keeping her voice quiet.

"Oh no..." Allie didn't know why she was surprised. There were enough dangers present. But when you were pretty indestructible sometimes it was easy to forget that others weren't.

"I'm so sorry."

Somehow Kitty hadn't thought she'd hear that directed at her. "Thanks," she said, and tried to shrug it off. "I just needed a minute. Stiles is pretty upset, I don't want to make it worse."

Allie only knew Stiles in passing from the epic Cards of Humanities game. But she'd bonded with Kitty over their own awesomeness once upon a time. For the moment Kitty would get the sympathy.

"Maybe. But it's not good to keep it all in," said the girl who did an awful lot of repressing herself.

"Can I do anything?"

"...Any way you can create some busy work?" Kitty wondered. "I said I'd stay with him but there's not a ton to keep us busy if that's what he needs."

"Most of my busy work the last few days has involved wandering the halls and opening doors looking for things to hit," Allie said regretfully. "I'm pretty sure that's not what you had in mind."

"Yeah, I don't think he's going to be wanting to go out anytime soon," she agreed. "I mean, I'm... distressingly used to this. All my focus is on Stiles right now."

Allie nodded, half wishing she was better at this. "That's good. He'll need his friends. I'll do what I can to help. I can go try and scrounge up some food or something if you think that'll help."

"That'd be great. Even if you just find random little stuff, I can improvise something to do with it," she said gratefully.
