Dungeon Residential Camps, Somewhere, Friday

A strong wind tore through the hallways. Inside the camps, it was only audible: no breeze flicked into the large chambers themselves. Outside them, though, torches would flicker on and off on their own whim, exposing the dungeon's residents to errant grues.

There was something to be celebrated, though: when the maze shifted overnight, its paths crossed and connected all three camps. Time for a reunion.

[ camp one | camp two | camp three | ooc as of yesterday, everyone in camp 1 is free to assume they know about the first key and the vault. ]

"Ooo, you do that, I'll hit TripAdvisor," Stephanie cracked. "The beds are terrible, and don't even get me started on the terrible restaurant options."

"Thank you for reminding me that I have soggy pretzels to share with the group," Kitty said, totally serious, and reached for her bag.

Stephanie's stomach actually growled at that, and she looked like she had no idea whether or not to be embarrassed about it.

"Nothing but the finest cuisine for our guests here!"

She actually, and this was sad, really wanted some of those pretzels.

Kitty gave her a little smile and tossed over the bag. "I'm going out again later," she told her. "Hopefully there'll be more out there."

Stephanie crammed a couple of the soggy pretzels into her mouth, making only minimal grossed-out faces, before reminding herself that she should probably spare some for the others and putting the bag down with an abashed look on her face.

"Well, may you have better luck than I've been having, when you do," she told Kitty. "I might take another stab -- no pun intended, for once in my life -- at it myself later, just in case I do get lucky for once."

". . . not like . . . never mind."
throughaphase: (little smile)

Kitty laughed a bit, and realized it'd been a while since she'd done that. "Not having much luck out there?"

"Oh, plenty." Stephanie waved a hand, mock-breezily. "If you count falling face-first into some absurd-yet-dire situation and barely escaping by the skin of my teeth, at least."

This was not entirely accurate, as she went looking for those situations more than she blundered into them.
throughaphase: (about to speak)

"I hear that's going around," Kitty said, managing to get the chain securely around the letter opener. "I think we've all done that if we've left camp. Hey, can you do the clasp on this?"

Kind of hard to fasten it when you were holding it up against your own hand so nothing moved.

"I will never doubt the value of collective slapstick misfortune as a bonding activity ever again," Stephanie announced, reaching out to fasten the chain's clasp. "Granted, the embarrassment factor means it won't ever be my favorite, but --"

She put on an exaggerated, psycho-infomercial-cheerful smile, complete with accompanying voice. "Isn't it nice to know we're all in it together?"
throughaphase: (neutral listening)

"Actually, yeah," Kitty admitted, trying to loop a bent paperclip around the chain near her fingers. She'd so given herself the most annoying project. "I've done this on my own before and I'd be a crazy little ragemonster by now if I was on my own. And just think, in five years from now, we can all sit around and say 'Hey, remember that time that psycho stole us in our sleep?'"

Stephanie laughed. "Let's just hope we don't have to specify which time. Copycat villains are the worst."

Great, give them ideas, Steph.

"If it happens more than once, I'm going to be so mad."

She did not discount the possibility.

Stephanie nibbled on a soggy chunk of pretzel. "You have to admit, the whole multiverse deal increases the statistical probability. Maybe."
throughaphase: (just been working)

"And the guys who didn't learn the first time that they need a new thing," Kitty added.

"Right, them." Stephanie sighed melodramatically. "Because there's always a couple of those."
