The Vault, Somewhere, Sunday Morning

The vault door stood large and broad in the hallway - so large and broad that it was as if the corridor itself had had to grow several sizes to accommodate it. It was a dark red, and its surface was almost completely smooth but for the slots where three keys would fit.

It exuded quiet menace.

Natalie wasn't going to bother answering that. Too busy ignoring the pain in her ribs and falling down and stuff.

That had been half planned, though. Because while she was down, she could try and kick April's feet from underneath her before starting to get up herself.

Oh, well, crap. April hadn't been expecting that. So, yes, she fell. Flat on her face, actually.

"Ow," she snarled. And then she made the mistake of checking the face situation by touching her hand to her nose and examining it (seriously, was she bleeding? What was up with that?) before bothering with things like getting up.

April's killer instinct wasn't the greatest.

Apparently not.

Natalie, meanwhile, got up fast. And then kicked April in one leg, hard. She would've gone fot the ribs, but... Well, she'd recognized April. And she knew they'd been in the same camp so this may not have been the same as with vampire Kate.

So she wanted April to stay down, rather than die. Just in case.

This completely wasn't worth it.
