The Vault, Somewhere, Sunday Morning

The vault door stood large and broad in the hallway - so large and broad that it was as if the corridor itself had had to grow several sizes to accommodate it. It was a dark red, and its surface was almost completely smooth but for the slots where three keys would fit.

It exuded quiet menace.

"I'm really not in the mood," Atton said conversationally, stabbing him in the shoulder next. "So I'd really just like you to die."

"I've made a huge mistake!" GOB cried as the blade went straight through. "Just chop my head off! Or, let me eat you! One or the other!"

GOB was the best vampire.

"How have you lived this long?"

Atton, stop chatting with the guy you were stabbing.

"By not getting stabbed by crazy people," GOB said. "Look, I don't even have to kill you all the way. I could drink your blood, you drink mine, and then you're a vampire, too! You'd be great at it!"

He totally would be great at it, too!

"I don't know. I'm not much of a joiner these days," Atton said. Sorry about the lung, GOB. And the mixed signals re: your impending death.

GOB gasped for air for a moment before remembering that he didn't breathe anymore, and his lungs were mostly there for show. Well, not show, since you couldn't normally see them. You probably could now, though.

Anyway, once he realized that nothing was going to happen to him from that except pain, GOB lunged for Atton's arm, teeth first. This guy just plain deserved to get bit by this point!

Sure. Piss off the guy who practically fed off anger.

Atton snarled as the teeth sank into his arm. Damn it, that was his stabbing arm-- he brought his knee up towards GOB's gut at top speed. He was not going to die to some rakghoul wannabe, damn it.

"Unf. Kmmf mmmon!" GOB said, although it was muffled by Atton's arm. He was hanging on for dear unlife and trying to drink as much as he could, like a lamprey at a bar.

'Should've gone for the head when you had a chance!' is what GOB would have said if he weren't in so much pain and trying to drink.

Stupid dark side gloating tendencies! Why? WHY?!

Atton punched him in the head. He had told him to go for that.

That loosened GOB's grip a bit, but his teeth were still in the arm. It actually took him this long to realize that he had Atton in a good position for a more conventional attack as well as getting his suck on, and yes that's how he phrased it in his head.

Since he wasn't really going to turn his head right now, GOB lashed out blindly with a vamp-strength punch somewhere in the vicinity of Atton's chest.

That was going to hurt if it connected. And Atton was already feeling woozy--

Of course, it also meant GOB was overextending himself. Atton grabbed his incoming arm and gave it a big ol' yank. Breaking it was just an eye for an eye, right?

That wasn't an eye for an eye at all! That was an arm for an arm, head, shoulder, and head again!

Still, it got GOB to let go of Atton's arm. "Come on," he whimpered as he tried to pull his arm free. Which was a bad idea because that hurt.

Atton was going to let that go because that made it easier to stab GOB in the head. Should've done that in the first place. ... okay, he had, this was just a more dedicated stabbing.

GOB's brain was barely working at this point. Less than usual. He'd been stabbed in the head twice, come on. Even vamp healing and all that blood he just drank couldn't do too much for him right now. With with what motor control he still possessed, he aimed a punch (with his working arm) at Atton's crotch.

When in doubt and unable to think much, rely on instinct.

THAT WAS JUST BEYOND THE PALE, MAN.

"Schutta," Atton hissed, doubling over.

Cutting GOB's head off with that knife was going to take some effort, but he was going to damn well try.

While Atton was doubled over anyway, GOB aimed another punch to his angry little head. 'I'm winning!' he would have said if his speech center hadn't been stabbed!

And with that, Atton went crashing to the ground. Ouch.

GOB could do this! He could actually win a fight and totally eat someone that he caught himself!

He tried to jump on Atton and plunge his teeth into his neck. For victory! For breakfast!

Thanks for taking the bait, GOB! Now it was about twice as easy to use the knife to cut your head off!

Okay, it still kind of sucked, but it was easier. Atton had applied himself to the task now, though, so he was going to have to see it through.

GOB had made a huge mistake.

He would have said so, too, except for the speech center thing. And now his throat being opened slowly but surely.

But he would have his revenge! As he exploded into dust, he had the smug satisfaction that Atton would have him in his sinuses FOR DAYS. Just try and sneeze him out!

Atton sneezed. Then he sneezed a second time. He stumbled up to his feet, because if a bleeding gut wound wasn't going to keep Atton Rand down, then neither would impromptu anemia.

He sneezed a third time.

"I'm really angry now."
