The Vault, Somewhere, Sunday Morning

The vault door stood large and broad in the hallway - so large and broad that it was as if the corridor itself had had to grow several sizes to accommodate it. It was a dark red, and its surface was almost completely smooth but for the slots where three keys would fit.

It exuded quiet menace.

Why was it always the head?! The raptor was not pleased with the meat! Its head hurt!

It was going to try and bite hers off!

"I didn't hear the dinner bell," Jessica said as she shoved the suitcase directly between the raptor and her head. "But here's a snack! Eat up!"

The raptor bit down on the suitcase... ...and bit it straight in half.

Ew.

Fortunately, the suitcase gave Jessica a moment to set up and aim a forceful uppercut at the underside of the raptor's jaw.

... She hoped there wasn't anti-dinosaur spray in the suitcase or anything. That could have been useful. Oh well.

She was just lucky she wasn't fighting a T-Rex.

The raptor's head snapped back. It flailed at Jessica with its arms and claws to make up for it.

Jessica moved quickly, but not quite fast enough to keep the claws from raking against her arm. Fortunately, she had the chainmail on, or else it could have been a much worse situation. As she stumbled backwards, she shot a flaming web net at the raptor, hoping that could hold it for a minute.

And now the dinosaur was on fire. Sadly for it and thankfully for Jessica, it took to that a whole lot less good than spiders or swords. It screamed, trying to tear the flaming strands off its face before they did too much damage.

... Crap crap crap, if only Jessica were a worse person, she could leave the animal that had been trying to eat her face to burn. But since she wasn't, she rushed forward and grabbed at the raptor's tail to try to pull it free.

The velociraptor was not so good at reading good intentions, however, and tried to slap at the thing with its tail. All the while making very loud noise.

Jessica took the slap in her side, probably bruising something. But it conveniently gave her the opportunity to grab onto the tail and start pulling.

The raptor made an absolutely embarrassing yelping noise as it was pulled free from the flaming web. Ow ow ow ow. This was not its day.

Okay, the raptor wasn't going to die. But it was still a jerk, so Jessica - still holding onto the tail - tried to throw it back into the vault. She was aiming for some of the clockwork spiders.

Had you ever seen a raptor fly, Jessica? You know how they normally did? Poorly.

It went sprawling into a bunch of clockwork spiders, which either smooshed or flew off in turn, crashing against the walls.

It was very impressive.

"That has to be a record in the dino-toss," Jessica mused before heading off to pick another fight.
