Some paths were lit. Some paths were dark. Some paths slowed you as you walked - but in a way only noticeable by comparison. All paths led to the vault. All paths led, eventually, to the rooms.

None of them led outside, which was a pity, really.

With her new fire power, Jessica found herself wandering farther into the corridors than she really dared before. Before today, the noises and her spider-sense warned her away from going too far into the darkness. But today? Any time the darkness approached she shot a flaming web at the ceiling for a few minutes of illumination until the web collapsed.

Of course, this meant that the whole exploring the dungeon thing was kind of boring. Because once you removed the danger and didn't go into any doors, you were basically just walking a cramped hallway over and over. Oh well.

Eventually, Atton's restless steps brought him further into the corridors. His sense of time kept blurring back and forth, back and forth, feeding the fear at his heart-- which in turn made him angrier.

He didn't enter any doors - at least not just yet. Instead he became the human equivalent of a black cloud haunting the pathways.

Kitty hadn't gone out yesterday, and after a while today sitting around being depressed with nothing to do got unbearable. So she asked Clint to stay with Stiles and headed out to see what she could get today.

She felt like her sense of timing was off somehow, but on the plus side, it meant she was being a little more cautious when she walked.

As far as Zoe was concerned, the Fandomites had long since outworn their welcome here. She'd stayed in the camp in the morning, checking in with as many people as she could, but it hadn't been long before she was out in the pathways, darkness and creepy-ass noises be damned. If something tried to eat her, at least fighting would give her something to do with all her nervous energy.

April walked through the door and immediately came to the conclusion that she hated this place -- her deep loathing of the outdoors had stuck with her through her transformation, and the smell wasn't great either.

Then, however, she found herself something to snack on in the form of a pimple-faced new knight, gaining his sword and surprisingly small boots in the process, and she decided maybe this place didn't suck so much after all. She strapped the sword to her waist with the dead guy's belt before going to look for dessert.

After spending some time out in the corridors, Jessica decided to pop in and check out one of the doors. Once she got a good look at what the theme was, she made a decision. "I could use some chainmail."

With her powers, it was easy enough to get over the wall and into the castle, but once she was in there, she was lost. "It wouldn't kill them to put up a map with 'You Are Here' on it."

Allie had left the courtyard and headed towards the town, figuring the odds were a little better in her favor for skulking about and finding food for the people back at the camp.

So far she'd been successful, finding some loaves of bread and a small wheel of cheese.

The trick would be seeing if her luck held.

Anyone from Fandom who remembered Rebecca Logan might remember her voice being smooth and clipped most of the time - but if they heard her message from up here on the roof, she sounded a little different.

"Oh my god, what is that?" Rebecca could be shrill when she was panicked about creepy-looking clouds that were interrupting her beachside afternoon with her friends. Who would've guessed? "This was not in the weather forecast. I was told eighty-eight and sunny, not 'A butt-ton of creepy clouds that appear to be advancing from all four sides, not even just the sky', okay? Whatever this is, I'm three hundred percent sure it's related to that weird town in Maryland, so if anyone gets this, would you just--?!"

And then there was a loud sound, not unlike an oncoming wave -- and then Nothing.

She paused there, looked straight at anyone who might be listening. "No way are we all coming back again."

Tara's voice was solemn but rushed, as if she was trying to get out her last words before the inevitable. A second voice echoed her words -- Willow's.

They were what was left.

"Sacred Shakti, hear us, grant our plea. Stop this darkness and give your light. Sacred Shakti, mother of all, hear your children. Sacred Shakti, force of creation --"

And there it cut off, words dropping away to be replaced by only the rush of the wind.

The clouds from that last autumn in Fandom were unforgettable. After Standford faded out and all Miley could get on the TV in her dorm room was static, she tried calling her father. When that didn't work - the first few times because it went to voicemail, but then because "the number you are trying to reach is no longer in service" - she wiped desperate tears from her newly-blotchy face and settled on her bed with a guitar.

"I'm moving on, letting go / Holding on to tomorrow / I've always got the memories / While I'm finding out who I’m gonna be / We might be apart but I hope you always know / You'll be with--"

And then silence.

With the way her voice was choked up, she couldn't have hit that note anyway.

Kitty made it all the way through this door before what she was seeing clicked. This was the thing that swallowed up the multiverse when she just got here, and was the only thing she'd recognized in this place so far. And while she knew it couldn't be real if it was contained in one room, she didn't want to stick around, and so she turned for the door pretty much immediately.

That wasn't important to anyone who might be hearing this, but it was on his mind and he was finding it difficult to self-censor at the moment.

"I know this is strange but it's true -- I can't say for sure what's happening, but I know it isn't good. It's something to do with the gray clouds. I'm not any more a fan of rain clouds than the next person, but these aren't full of rain. They're taking people away. Places, too. If you get caught in one, you're gone. I thought getting on a train to New York would get me far away in time, but in case it doesn't, let me just say -- goodbye."

He actually managed to get that out in time before there was a loud rumble as the train he was on sped up -- and then a disturbing, ringing silence.

Gert stomped through the door and thought at first that she had stumbled upon the lair of whoever ran this place. It was an easy mistake to make: as far as Gert was concerned, if there was a room this fancy in a place that was otherwise pretty horrible, it wasn't unfair to assume that the fancy part belonged to whoever was in charge.

She gave the desk what she felt was a well-deserved kick, and just as she was reaching for that stupidly fancy-looking sushi on the desk, she was distracted by a voice.

"Seriously, Gert? You're so predictable."

Gert snapped her head up and found herself face-to-face with Alex Wilder. Translucent, but looking otherwise the same way he had when she'd last seen him, Alex strode toward her from a back door in the corner of the room, and Gert -- Gert just put a hand on her hip and glared. Hard.

"What the hell are you doing here?"

Alex didn't exactly look daunted. "Does it matter?" he pointed out reasonably. "You can't do anything about it." He stuck one incorporeal hand through the desk, then out again. "See?"

"Congrats, you've shown off that you're dead," Gert replied. "I'm not, which means I'm pretty sure I don't have to listen to you. Are we done?"

"Why? So you can get back to eating?"

Gert had really, really had enough of this place calling her fat.

"Just get out, Alex," she said, with a note of tiredness in her voice that hadn't been there before. "You're not scaring me or whatever you're supposed to do."

"Now, that doesn't sound like the Gert I know," Alex chided her. "If I remember correctly, your self-esteem should be tanking right now. You don't even have your dinosaur on you to help you pretend you have any firepower whatsoever. Speaking of whom, are you a hundred percent sure she's even alive? You've been gone a while."

Okay, with that look on her face, Gert couldn't even pretend that he wasn't getting to her now.

I'd like a knightly NPC in the castle here (http://fh-dungeon.livejournal.com/3219.html?thread=854675#t854675), if possible.

Thanks!
