The Vault, Somewhere, Sunday Morning

The vault door stood large and broad in the hallway - so large and broad that it was as if the corridor itself had had to grow several sizes to accommodate it. It was a dark red, and its surface was almost completely smooth but for the slots where three keys would fit.

It exuded quiet menace.

Natalie didn't have a weapon. But that didn't matter. She was a weapon, or enough of one. And enemies pouring at her had put her squarely in combat mode, and the way she moved through the fray looked like she could have used an arcade fighting game style music accompanying her right now.

She was so getting a level up if they got through this.

Okay, yes. April wanted to leave too. But she was also pretty hungry, and this seemed like as excellent an opportunity to get some blood as she was going to get.

Natalie looked like she had her shit together, fighting-wise, which would normally be a deterrent for April -- too much work. But. April had one advantage, which was that it seemed like Natalie's skill was mostly kicking-based, and April's position in the room meant that she could come up toward the other girl from behind, dropping into gameface and aiming a kick of her own to one of Natalie's shins.

Okay, ow. Natalie yelped at the sudden pain in her leg. It made her lose her balance, and while she didn't fall down, whipping around to see who'd done that was accomplished slightly less graceful than it should have been. Nor did she get to immediately retaliate.

"... Again?"

She was so fed up with vampires right now.

"Which part of this has happened before?" April had to ask, before following up on the first kick with a second one aimed at Natalie's side. She actually got quite a bit of force behind it, too. "It's not ringing any bells for me."

Natalie wasn't going to bother answering that. Too busy ignoring the pain in her ribs and falling down and stuff.

That had been half planned, though. Because while she was down, she could try and kick April's feet from underneath her before starting to get up herself.

Oh, well, crap. April hadn't been expecting that. So, yes, she fell. Flat on her face, actually.

"Ow," she snarled. And then she made the mistake of checking the face situation by touching her hand to her nose and examining it (seriously, was she bleeding? What was up with that?) before bothering with things like getting up.

April's killer instinct wasn't the greatest.

Apparently not.

Natalie, meanwhile, got up fast. And then kicked April in one leg, hard. She would've gone fot the ribs, but... Well, she'd recognized April. And she knew they'd been in the same camp so this may not have been the same as with vampire Kate.

So she wanted April to stay down, rather than die. Just in case.

"Ugh, fuck you," whined the petty, petty vampire as she crumpled back down. "Whatever."

This completely wasn't worth it.

Feel superior, Natalie. Two kicks and April was already too lazy to continue this fight.
